Protecting Streams, Estuaries and Coastal Waterways
IATP staff are involved in five major
ecosystem projects designed to protect major aquatic systems that provide
critical habitat for fish and other marine resources. These projects – focused on the Red, Mississippi, Missouri and
Columbia Rivers, and the Great Lakes – include major projects to address water
quality and quantity (Great Lakes), water flow and flooding (Red River),
transportation and infrastructure (Mississippi), dams (Columbia) and system-wide
management (Missouri).
A
key part of these projects is our collaboration with university scientists and
extension staff to improve landscape management practices specifically to enhance fish and
other marine life habitat.
