Doha, Qatar—Meeting in Doha for the 5th United Nations Least Developed Countries (LDC) Conference 4-9 March, civil society organizations (CSOs) from around the world organized a panel to present and discuss the challenges that face LDC agriculture, the promise of agroecology and the importance of investing in agroecological practices to build food sovereignty.

Despite Improvements, Three in Four Farmers Turned Away from Federal Conservation Programs

MINNEAPOLIS—A new report from the Institute for Agriculture and Trade Policy (IATP) finds that roughly three in four farmers who applied to access critical government conservation programs in 2022

Still Closed Out

More progress needed to connect farmers with federal conservation programs. There has been some positive development for conservation agriculture policy in the U.S. since 2021, but USDA still rejects more than three in four farmer applications to CSP. 

2023 Farm to School and Early Care Bill Continues Positive Momentum in Minnesota

St. Paul, Minnesota—The Minnesota House Agriculture Committee will have a hearing today for Representative Kristi Pursell’s Farm to School and Early Care bill (H.F. 2043), with bipartisan support representing a step forward in supporting local food, schools and economies throughout Minnesota.
