Farm to Summer

Summer meals not only provide an important source of nutrition for children when school is out of session but also are an opportunity for farmers to showcase their products during the height of the growing season. IATP is partnering with Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) sponsors across Minnesota to incorporate locally-grown foods into meals and snacks and build community through celebrating local foods. 

Farm to Summer feeds Minnesota children

The Summer Food Service Program provides free meals to children during the summer months, and some Minnesota schools are taking advantage of the growing season to incorporate locally grown fruits and vegetables into summer meals. IATP is proud to partner with the Mille Lacs Band of Ojibwe, the Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe and Roseville Area Schools as they launch “Farm to Summer” initiatives that will help nourish kids, farmers and communities.
