Governments and the meat and dairy industries are increasingly advocating for the use of methane digesters on large-scale animal operations to turn methane into biogas as a strategy to respond to climate change. This internship will research how these digesters work, how well they are working, and the different ways government policies are supporting these developments.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Work with IATP staff to research the popular and scientific literature on methane digesters used at large-scale meat and dairy operations, clarify what the industry is proposing and on what grounds, and look into state-level policies that incentivize these digesters.
