Job Description

DESCRIPTION:

IATP is seeking an intern to research global markets in cotton and the impacts of U.S. cotton subsidies and support programs on developing country and U.S. farmers.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Conduct literature review and other background research on trade flows in cotton, the reasons prices have been so volatile and document potential solutions proposed in Congress and at the WTO. Working closely with IATP program staff, the intern will gather data, and prepare research memos, charts and tables. The intern will also participate in biweekly staff meeting on international trade.

START DATE:

September 1.

LOCATION:

Flexible: could be in our Washington, DC or Minneapolis offices or offsite with regular check-ins with staff.

DURATION/HOURS:

10-15 hours a week through fall semester 2017.

EXPERIENCE and QUALIFICATIONS:

Graduate student or advanced undergraduate with coursework in international and/or agricultural economics.
