PARIS, Dec 6 (AFP) - French anti-globalisation campaigner Jose Bove and members of his farmers' union clashed with police Wednesday as they tried to enter a building in Paris where a conference of the World Trade Organisation was taking place.
Bove, who heads the radical Peasants Confederation, was forcibly restrained by police as about 10 protesters chanted "WTO, police state".
Agriculture Minister Jean Glavany came outside shortly after the incident and told Bove he was "really sorry" about the incident.
Bove told the minister he wanted to meet with Mike Moore, the WTO director-general.
The WTO was holding a closed door session in Automobile Club premises off Paris' Place de la Concorde on agricultural negotiations and relations with developing countries.:
