TOKYO, April 25 (AFP) - Japan and Singapore will hold a second meeting of government officials and experts in Tokyo this week over a bilateral free-trade accord, the foreign ministry said Tuesday.
The two-day meeting from Wednesday will be attended by trade officials from relevant ministries, professors and industry representatives from the two countries, the ministry said in a statement.
Last December, Japan's then prime minister Keizo Obuchi and Singaporean Prime Minister Goh Chok Tong agreed in a meeting here to start discussions over a free-trade accord.
The first round of talks was held on March 7 and 8 in Singapore where the two sides agreed to finish preparatory studies this year before starting formal negotiations.:
