WASHINGTON, April 24 (AFP) - US Agriculture Secretary Dan Glickman leaves for China Monday accompanied by four members of Congress to study China's commitment to market opening agreements, his office said.
It is the second of two delegations planned by the White House to convince undecided legislators to vote for a bill to grant permanent normal trade relations with China.
However, the first tour was cancelled April 13 because not enough members wanted to go.
At that time, a White House spokesman said the second delegation would probably consist of 10 legislators.
The delegation will include Democratic Representatives Norman Dicks of Washington state, Ruben Hinojosa of Texas and Gregory Meeks of New York, and Republican Greg Walden of Oregon.
Governor Edward Schafer of North Dakota also will travel with the group.:
