Michael J. Donohue, Ph.D President and CEO Great Lakes Commission
Located in Ann Arbor, Mich., the Great Lakes Commission was established in 1955 and today serves as a bi-national agency promoting the orderly, integrated and comprehensive development, use and conservation of water and related natural resources in the Lakes states, including Minnesota, and the provinces of Ontario and Quebec.
Speakers representing the spectrum of rural water planning will present infomration on the supply and protection of our drinking water, drainage and flood control, wastewater treatment in small communities and shoreland development. The day will end with a panel discussion on the status of local water planning and the issues and challenges faced by planners and policy makers in coordinating water resources at different levels of government.
Designed for legislators, local government officials, planners and other policy makers interested in this issue, the Center's Legislative Policy Forums are designed to produce a daylong interactive discussion of a single issue of imporatnce to rural Minnesota.
