The Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) was recently directed by Governor Ted Strickland to attain a third-party certification for Ohio's state forests.

Pike County embodies three state forests, including the Scioto Trail State Forest, Pike State Forest and Brush Creek State Forest.

Scioto Trail State Forest houses 9,600 acres of forest throughout Pike and Ross Counties. Brush Creek State Forest includes 13,502 acres of forest throughout Scioto, Highland and Pike Counties. Pike State Forest contains 12,084 acres of forest in Pike and Highland Counties.
