UTICA, N.Y. (Reuters/Zogby) - A majority of Americans see international trade organizations such as the WTO playing a positive role in America's economic future, according to a recent Zogby poll.
In the latest American Values poll of 1,028 adults nationwide, 51.8% supported the WTO and other organizations as playing an important role in America's future global trade.
A strong minority of 37.4%, however, felt that these international bodies were having a negative impact on America, by stripping away U.S. sovereignty and putting global economic and humanitarian goals ahead of U.S. interests.
The remaining 10.9% were not sure.
Republicans were split, with a slightly larger number perceiving international trade organizations as detrimental to America's interests, but a 56%-30% majority of Democrats felt otherwise.
