KUALA LUMPUR -- Malaysia will support a new round of World Trade Organization negotiations once a concrete agenda for the talks has been established, Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad reiterated Friday.
"We are not against a new round of talks, but we want to determine what is the agenda of the talks," Mahathir told reporters following a seminar on terrorism.
At a recent meeting in Doha, Qatar, delegates had agreed to begin a further round of negotiations.
Industry and Trade Minister Rafidah Aziz said Thursday that Malaysia will be ready to negotiate four new trade issues in two years, including investment, the environment, competition policies, and government procurement, according to a report by the government-funded news agency Bernama.
