Percolate: Tar Sands: Economic Inequity and Environmental Devastation Driven by a Neoliberal Agenda

For many the tar sands are a symbol of an environmental catastrophe. The onset of the unbridled industrialization that plagues the Fort McMurray region was spurred by a relaxed royalty regime and liberalized trade rules, both important pieces in constructing a system of surrendered sovereignty and the extension of corporate rights.

Join IATP’s Dale Wiehoff and Patrick Tsai, along with Kathy Hollander from MN350, for a discussion of the effect liberalized trade and economics has had on Tar Sands development.

Please register for the in-person event by contacting Karen Quiroz at kquiroz@iatp.org (612) 870-3478. Percolate is an opportunity, every other month, to join IATP in discussions about food, farming and trade. This isn’t just another lecture—come ready to participate!
