Building a Renewable Economy: The Bio-PDO Example

Pete Colombo is the Account Executive-Americas for DuPont Tate and Lyle Bio Products

Abstract

Exciting new bio-based, petroleum-free ingredients give today’s leading manufacturers the ability to replace petroleum-derived materials with high-performance, biodegradable solutions that can significantly reduce the environmental impact of their products. DuPont’s journey towards sustainable growth led to the creation in 2004 of DuPont Tate & Lyle Bio Products. DuPont Tate & Lyle Bio Products is building a renewable economy through the manufacture and sale of Bio PDO™, a specialty glycol made from the fermentation of corn sugar. Bio PDO™ products serve a wide range of consumer and industrial markets including cosmetics, personal care, fabric and home care, polymers, and fibers
