Friends of the Earth International, the world's largest environment network, has condemned NGO day at the WTO Ministerial Conference as "a futile piece of tokenism". US Commerce Secretary William Daley described the event at a US Delegation Press Briefing as "a tremendous kick-off" to the Ministerial Conference.
