Jillia Pessenda is a development and communications contractor for several Twin Cities-based social justice organizations and nonprofits. She is thrilled to join the team at IATP to further their individual donor program, impact and reach. Prior to this work, Jillia served as the Senior Development Officer at Headwaters Foundation for Justice and as Director of Development for OutFront Minnesota. Jillia’s political experience includes serving as the Finance Director for Ilhan Omar’s historic campaign for the Minnesota House of Representatives as well as working on successful legislative campaigns for marriage equality and safe schools.
Jillia is an active urban gardener and community organizer. She co-founded California Street Urban Farm in Northeast Minneapolis and worked to pass policies on the local level to legalize urban farming, create more access to land for urban farmers and increase access to locally grown food. She currently serves on the Minneapolis Homegrown Food Council.
Jillia received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities. She lives in Minneapolis with her partner Monica and their 65 lb mutt Romeo.
